The owner would suggest visiting the South Beach in Grand Bend at the end of River Road, it is quieter and shallow for wading out to the pier. Favourite restaurant in the village is the Schoolhouse, just a walk down the street. 3 beachfront restaurants, The Growling Gator, Willies, and The Tipsy Pelican. There are a number of farmer`s markets in the area including Wed farmer`s market in the village, Zehr`s just south of Bayfield, Masse`s on Hwy#84. Jerry Rader`s in Zurich has a deli and a lovely little gift shop. You can walk to Sobey`s and Shopper`s from this little cottage and the library is on the street where the cottage is located. The Pinery Park is great for kids and adults, the owner`s favourites are the night walks and Rum and Spirits live performance. Favourite stores are The Garden Gate, Static, Sue’s Creative Touches and Archie’s. The White Squirrel Golf Club is about 8 min north and has a wonderful restaurant with live entertainment on the weekend. The website has a link to the Chamber of Commerce for more things to do etc

We really enjoyed our stay at The Sandpiper and kids are already asking when we can come back. We are two families with 5 adults and 4 kids (ages 10, 8, 6 and 3). We were all comfortable and had enough room for everyone. The place was tidy and had everything we needed. We walked to the beach almost everyday and their wagon came very handy. The Pinery was a close drive and we enjoyed renting a canoe and stand up paddle boards there. The beach there is great as well. Jane and Murray were great hosts and were quick to answer any of our questions. The fire pit in the backyard was our favorite spot. All in all, we would definitely stay here again.
We have just returned from a week at the Sandpiper. We are a family of four, with two little boys and we all had a great time. The house was much larger than we expected from the photos and was immaculately clean. The kitchen was stocked with all (and more) that we required for a weeks self-catering. The location is excellent, very quiet and only a short walk to the town. There is playground 2 minutes from the house and a sobeys and LCBO are just around the corner. Jane was an excellent host and very accommodating. My boys are already asking when can they go back to their holiday home
We stayed at this Cottage the 2nd time in two years and it was wonderful. Very cozy spacious and clean.
Last Minute Switch4.5
This cottage was a last minute switch due to another cottage being unsuitable (not clean and full of mouse poop). We found this one online and Jane had it ready for us inside of an hour. We were lucky that someone else had cancelled on it the week before so it was available. It was perfect for our family of 5 with tons of room, a nice yard for the kids to play in, and a firepit. Its only a short walk to the beach and grocery stores so don’t let the location push you away from this one – it’s a great find in Grand Bend for a family vacation
This cottage was efficient and well laid out, on a quiet street but not a too-long walk to the beach, even pulling a wagon loaded with beach gear and kid. Lots of space, and nice with the full bath downstairs beside the other bedroom, which the grandparents appreciated. Not a fancy super-cottage, it’s a regular comfy cottage.
We stayed at The Sandpiper, a very clean and comfortable cottage. The location was perfect…a short walk to the main beach on a quiet side street. The grandchildren (ages 2-4) had yard to play as we enjoyed sitting on the deck. Roasting wieners and marshmellows in the fire pit was a hit with grand-kids! We would stay there again and would not hesitate to recommend this cottag
great location, quiet, within walking distance of main street and grocery store
Quieter area in the Bend Short walk to main street 2 min walk to the Schoolhouse Restaurant awesome firepit wonderful decks front and back
